Today I finally got to see my new university from the inside. The day started with all the international students meeting in the aula. In there, teachers, former students and people from Iamsterdam talked about both the university and about Holland. It was all very interesting. I was however a little lost in the beginning. Since I don't live in a dorm I haven't met any other students yet. Therefore I still didn't know anyone when I arrived today.
After the presentations about the university and Holland was finished we were supposed to find a "mentor" that was going to show us around. Since most of the students actually live in a dorm they had already formed groups. Me being the little lost lamb that I was decided to just hijack a group of students and follow them. One mentor was trying to split a larger group apart and collect 12 students. While she was counting in the students I made my move and merged with the group (sneaky sneaky). During the tour, some of the students recognized that I was a newcomer and started talking. After the tour was done we had some time to kill off before getting back to the aula for a crash course in Dutch. I decided to keep "stalking" my new found group and got to talk to everyone of them. We ended up eating together and exchange both names and numbers. I can now say that I know some of the student att VU, yay!
After the Dutch course, I also found some students that was going to study computer science just like me. We also ended up trading names and numbers so now I know a whole bunch of people at VU. That being said, the scariest part is now over.
Tomorrow I will be going to the #vuamsterdam expedition to win my bike. When I get my new won bike I'll upload some pictures of me cruising fo sho.
